Men’s or Women’s Alien outer space UFO Cowl, the UFO Sky Cowl version two: A funky high contrast cowl suitable for male or female. This warm, two-tone cowl is knitted in the round using moss stitch and woven floats technique (similar to twining or stranded colour work). Stitches are knit and purl. Chart reading is required and a small amount of embroidery is optional.
Dimensions 78 cm (30 ¾″) x 19 cm (7 ½″)
Version two is slightly more detailed using colorwork on both sides and adding embroidered enhancements. The unique woven effect plays with pattern and texture. Choose two high contrast colours. MC makes the longer floats used to create the UFOs or UAPs (light grey in the sample). CC makes the background (deep blue). Add some fun with beads, metallic or shiny embroidery thread. The pattern makes a dense and cuddly cowl that can reach up to the ears.
What you’ll need
Yarn: 2 x DK weight wool, wool blend or acrylic.
MC for the UFOs (pale grey in the sample): 50g
CC for the background (deep blue): 100g
Needle: 4mm (US size 6) circular needle 60cm (24″) long
Darning needle and small scissors
Open lock stitch markers in three colours
Tapestry or fingering weight wool for embroidery, beads or metallic yarn (optional)
