Peru Double Cowl Knitting Pattern
If you’re looking for a knitwear design that will turn heads, this has got to be it. With bonnets back in fashion, this is a unique version that doubles as bonnet and long knitted cowl. The Peruvian cowl knitting pattern is a three colour cowl scarf worked in the round using garter stitch, mixed textures and woven float technique. Stitches are knit and purl. Chart reading and some basic sewing is required.
The Peruvian cowl features a fluffy border and a stunning, hand knitted woven effect inspired by the traditional textiles of Peru. Choose a fluffy bouclé to create a gorgeous cushioned border. The main section colours are fingering weight yarns (I used alpaca). Their colours can be close for a subtle effect or high contrast if you prefer something more dramatic.
The knitting pattern makes a dense and cuddly cowl you can wear down the front or back of your clothes. Twist and wrap it up around your head to keep your ears warm. Make a short single cowl version as a stash buster.
